A Tough Update about US Tariffs

The new U.S. tariffs are going to hit us hard—the 10% tariff on China (started on Feb 4), and an additional 25-35% tariff will now apply due to the removal of the $800 de minimis rule.

Digital & printable items have always been included as part of our physical products, and moving forward we will be reflecting their value more clearly.

We don’t know yet the overall impact of the tariffs on our US customers, but we hope we can minimise the cost increase to be somewhere in the 10-15% range.

PA is already on a knife’s edge, with rising costs and a drop in subscriptions—we don't know if we will survive this.

First, let’s start with gratitude. If you’re reading this, it means you’ve been part of our journey. Over the last 8 years, we’ve faced so many challenges—COVID, warehouse struggles, rising costs, mental health battles, and tough personal times—but through it all, this community has kept Planners Anonymous alive. Your love and support have meant everything to us.

Unfortunately, we’re now facing another challenge—one that’s completely out of our hands. As of February 4th 2025, packages entering the US from China will be subject to duties - with the removal of the sub US$800 de minimis provisions and an additional 10% tariff levied on all goods. For us, this means most of the items we sell to our customers in the US will be receive a tariff of somewhere between 35%-45% of the value. This is a huge hit, and honestly, we don’t know yet if we’ll be able to ride this storm out. But we’re trying, with your support.

Closing our doors is something we’re desperately trying to avoid, but we have to be honest with you—this could break us. Most of our customers are in the U.S., and as we are already on the edge of viability, losing any customers could force PA to shut down for good. That wouldn’t just mean the end of our business—it would mean losing our family’s livelihood and possibly even our home. This is, without a doubt, the hardest moment we’ve ever faced, and we have worked too hard for too long to see it destroyed by the stroke of a pen half a world away.

Knowing this, we’ve had to rethink how we structure things moving forward. Since day one, every PA kit has included digital items and virtual experiences as part of your purchase, and we know that these elements are beloved by many of you. Truth is, they’ve always been an essential part of what we create and what you receive each month. To us, they’re integral parts of the experience of Planners Anonymous and they cannot be decoupled from the physical items.

To reflect this properly, we’re going to restructure our pricing to accurately represent the value of our included digital offerings. This won’t change what you get—it just ensures that the price breakdown separates digital content from physical goods, which are the ones being subjected to tariffs.

Regrettably, we have no choice but to pass on the tariff directly to you on the physical portion of your order — however it will be anchored in the value of the physical items sent to you. We’ve done everything we can to avoid this, but absorbing these costs alone just isn’t possible. We don’t know yet the overall impact of the tariffs on our US customers, but we hope we can minimise the cost increase to be somewhere in the 10-15% range, but we won’t know for sure until shipments start hitting U.S. Customs.

Uncertainty is the hardest part. The rules are shifting daily, and we don’t yet know how deep the impact will be. But one thing we can promise? We will be transparent and keep you informed every step of the way. When we know, you’ll know.

Moving forward, our mission remains the same—to create beautiful, high-quality products that bring joy to your planning and creative space. No tariff is going to take that away from us without a fight.
