Dear Journal, The snow has settled in now—like a soft hush over the city. And I’ve followed its lead, settling into the stillness too. After the sparkling bustle of the week before, I’ve traded snowy sidewalks for soft slippers, and late-night walks for candlelight and cocoa. There’s something sacred about these quiet winter days spent indoors. My loft feels like a little nest—pillows piled high, layers of blankets draped over every surface, and the soft glow of candlelight dancing against the windows. Outside, frost blooms on the glass. Inside, everything is warm. This week, I gave myself permission to pause. To not check my inbox. To ignore the pull of productivity. Instead, I read books just because I wanted to. I drank tea that I brewed slowly, mindfully. I baked cinnamon rolls from a recipe I’ve never tried—and accidentally burned the first batch. (Still delicious.) In these small, simple things, I felt a kind of bliss I hadn’t realised I was missing. When I wasn’t wrapped in blankets or tucked into my reading nook, I found myself daydreaming. Sketching. Planning. Writing without pressure. I lit candles, not just for the scent, but because they made me feel cozy, present. Like I was giving myself the gift of this moment. I think winter teaches us how to be gentle—with ourselves, with others, and with time. There’s no rush. Just room to breathe. With love and Coco, Alex
