Dear Journal, I don’t think I’ve ever truly understood the phrase “island time” until this week. This morning started with me slipping into the most comfortable sundress I brought with me and wandering down to the beach with a book tucked under my arm. Standing on the beach, the sand warm under my feet, I felt the soft ocean breeze brush against my face. The water lapped gently at the shore, rushing over my feet and making me feel as if I was slowly sinking into the soft, wet sand. Delicate traces of seafoam lingered for just a moment before retreating with the waves. I found the perfect spot on a hammock under a cluster of palm trees and set up camp for the day. I had a blanket, my book, and a tall glass of something fruity—it was simple, but seriously, it felt luxurious. I opened my book, but I’ll admit, I didn’t get far. The soothing sound of the waves and the warmth of the sun soon pulled my attention away from the pages. Instead, I just laid there, letting myself absorb the beauty of it all. There’s something about the ocean that makes time feel irrelevant. Hours passed without me even realizing it. Maybe it was because I fell asleep for a few hours in the hammock, or maybe it was the short walks along the shore, collecting smooth shells and sand dollars that caught my eye. I watched tiny crabs scuttle sideways, their little legs moving like clockwork as they disappeared into the sand. When the afternoon sun grew stronger, I moved to a cozy cabana nearby, curling up on the cushions for… yes, another nap. But I honestly couldn’t help it. Tell me you wouldn’t be lulled to sleep by the soft sway of the palm trees and the gentle lapping of waves. It was impossible to resist. It was the kind of day I’ll remember—not for what I did, but for what I didn’t do. No schedule, no distractions, just me, the ocean, and a peaceful rhythm that I wish I could bottle up and take home. Catch you later,Alex
